one reason i ask is because i live in korea (i'm american) and they don't have any parlors on the military post... so i was just wandering how what things to look for and what to look out for.

oh, and i wouldn't dream of putting somebody's name on myself. that's a surefire way to end a relationship. (i'd get the words "your name" tattooed on my butt so that i can bet people alot money that i have "your name" written on my butt. lol i'm just kidding.)

Look around. Does it seem clean, bright? Do the people seem friendly? Don't be afraid to ask about their procedures. If they give you any problem about telling you about their procedures, or don't want to show you their license, etc, then go somewhere else.

I strongly recommend Tattoo Blues off of Sunrise Blvd & the A1A in Ft. Lauderdale, if you're in the area. Leif did a wonderful job on my most recent tattoo. They clean the seats down BEFORE you ever sit down, the needles are pre-packaged and opened infront of you, they wash their hands and put on clean gloves infront of you, they should be very open about their policies and behavior, such as Tattoo Blues was.

Contact your local health department. They can tell you which ones have had violations. Also ask people you see with tattoos where they got their's. The tattoo parler I go to has a book with their health department report and every other shops in the area. Their's is the best. You'll be able to tell when you walk in if it's clean or not. The one I go to is very nice and you can just tell its clean. I've walked into one before and walked right out just because it looked so dirty. I have six and there is nothing wrong with wanting to decorate yourself!

Always make sure the tattoo parlor is licensed. In addition, the needles should be properly sterilized, the parlor itself should be sanitary

Ask the person that is giving you the tattoo. Also you can check yourself, but most likely it will be sanitary, so no need to worry.

Just check and make sure they cleaned the needles that they are gonna put in you if they are dirty from previous use then be careful you can get a virus that could kill you or just make you really sick so check the needles.

Make sure they are licenced and inspected, and they have an autoclave, which is a device for sterilization. You can also check with the local health dept. and the better business bureau.

Start with the look of the place. Does it look clean? Is it well lit? Also go in and talk to the people before you commit. They can explain to you all about their equipment. Go with your gut, but also do research.
