My wife says:

I made over $500 last month doing mystery shopping. It worked for me!!!

Mystery shopping is when a company hires you to spy on their employees for them (in the most general sense). Sometimes I do site visits and make sure companies are in compliance, sometimes I eat at restaurants and evaluate servers, cleanness and food and other times I do things like apartment shops and boat shops . . . and pretend interested.

The best way to start out (which is what I did) was by joining a site (for the free trail) like sassie mystery shopping. They'll send you sneak peeks of lots of jobs in your areas . . .

Then they'll try to get you to pay to become a gold member. Wait until they offer you one week free. Join it and mark your calendar to cancel it at the end of the week before they charge you.

In that week’s time you will get many offers to many LOCAL agencies. You will also have access to sassies mystery shopping companies. During that week sign up with as many of them as you can. Sassie themselves have several company that work for them directly.

Then when you cancel your membership you're just cutting out the middleman . . . which most companies prefer to do anyways.

GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!

I've been involved in mystery shopping for about 5 years now. Never ever ever pay to get information. No legitimate companies charge you for information. Legitimate mystery shopping companies don't charge for you to apply and receive assignments. Some mystery shops do require you to make a purchase and you are reimbursed, but make sure you are working for a reputable company.

This is where I first started.... http://forum.volition.com/. My best advice is to read, read and read some more. Then using the company list on that forum, apply to every company you can find. You have to be very organized, so start out slow until you can figure out a system. Most mystery shops pay little money, but if you can group them together to save time and gas, that helps a lot. Two years ago when I was really involved, I made about $2000, but it was a lot of work because I live in a rural area.

Good luck, it can be a lot of fun.

Try www.gapbuster.com.
In my country you do not have to pay to get the job but the fee is not very high, almost 15-20€/survey + expenses, when asked to purchase things. There is a maximum of x surveys per month (depending on the country and the society you will be checking) and you have to have a short training before starting through your computer.
It sounds interesting but although I have passed the test, I did not have the chance to do anything up to now, provided that you have to work at indicated days and time, which do not coincide with my programme.
I wish you good luck!

There are several websites where you can sign up to be a mystery shopper. Just Google "mystery shopper" and plenty of links will come up. Depending on the circumstances of the mystery shop you may have to spend your own money (for example, mystery shopping a restaurant) but you'll be reimbursed up to a certain dollar amount.
