Will the US ever vote for a Jewish or Buddhist president? I think Jewish would be more likely than any other religion. What about an Atheist?

To all of those saying that Clinton and Bush are not Christian...I'm not talking about those who do or do not ACT like a good Christian. I'm talking about religious affiliation, not religious morality.

It would be highly unlikely as long as Christians are the vast majority in this country. People like their presidents to at least have the appearance of morality, even if they don't live up to it once they're in office.

Yes. I think so because people are all different. There are many different cultures and nationalities everywhere you go! People shouldn't be judged by who they are or what they are in order to be president. I think that if a president is Jewish, there are many of Jewish people, and they might vote for the Jewish president. I think that everyone has the right to be a president even though they are not Christain.

We voted Clinton into office...
He was a Christian while talking to the African American Baptists in the deep south, a Jew in New York City, a Buddhist in China, and a Pagan pretty much any other time.

i think that we will have to see what happens.
but, anyways, many presidents have not been christian. clinton is a nice example of a heathen in office. lol. heck, even lincoln didn't except christ until he saw the sorrow of the civil war.
i don't think that we will ever see a buddhist president, but it wouldn't really be a huge shock if we did. i think we'll be seeing a woman in office before long and who knows where it will go from there?
if you ask me, we should stick with the godly men, but it's up to the people.
oh, and george washington was a christian! he was an onfire christian that believed the bible and god's word.

that is complicated to assert, and it also relies upon on the way you outline Christian. the folk claiming there have been "many" Deists and atheists who depending our us of a want to back up that declare. i don't think of they could. Even Thomas Jefferson became something diverse than a Deist, in case you've faith his words about morality and a God of justice. i imagine it extra in all probability we've already had non-Christians as presidents contained in the previous, because on the instantaneous, even non-Christians known a Judeo-Christian morality. the reason a non-Christian can not get everywhere in politics on the instantaneous is because we're not waiting to discard classic morality yet, as a human beings.

Well, Joe Lieberman ran for Vice-President to Al Gore. He's Jewish. I don't think they lost because of his faith...rather that Gore was an idiot. So, yeah, I think the day will come that a non-Christian President will be elected.

Yes, and I'll be studying all candidates very closely before making my final decision, and ethnic, religious, and or non-religious backgrounds are of little significance so long as the candidates have a historical background and do not base their decisions solely upon their religious beliefs, or the lack there of.

Ever is a long time. Jew, Muslim, Buddist, or Taoist will be possible long before Athiest.
To be an athiest you have to believe in nothing. Now that is pretty vast!
