I'm 40 years old and still to afraid to see The Exorcist! I think some of the scariest movies aren't even the splatter ones. It's the creepy ones that just make you sleep with the light on! I agree that The Shining is way up there. The Ring scared the hell out of me. Blair Witch 1 had me thinking about that closing basement scene for days. How about this oldie, The Changeling with George C. Scott? Psycho. The first Halloween.

I couldn't even get through the Exorcist! I would have to say the Ring was the scariest that I've actually watched. That or the Exorcism of Emily Rose... wow, yeah, I only saw bits and parts of that when my boyfriend was watching it, but it was pretty sick. I wouldn't watch that movie if I were paid to! Scared the hell out of me.

May sound nuts, but the most scared I remember was watching Alien, in the theater, when I was about 7 or 8. (My mother was a bit nuts)

All I remember is running up the aisle 3-4 times to get out of the way! Scared the CHIT out of me.

Exorcist I laughed at.

The scariet movie I've ever seen was Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho (the original).

The original "THE OMEN" (with The Shining a close second). BTW, the Omen was instrumental in becoming a Christian, simply due to the many Biblical parallels.
