Absolutely. PT will help you improve your knee strength, range of motion, and balance before your operation. After the surgery, your knee will be weak and have limited motion. It will be worse if you do not have PT before the surgery. The PT will also educate you on what to do immediately following the operation (exercises, how to use crutches, etc) and when you go back to them for PT after the surgery, they already know your history.

Depends on what kind of knee surgery. After some kinds of knee surgery you will start working that knee the very next day. So I don't think most would be before surgery.

What is the reason for having the surgery? If it is do to a work out joint then do therapy only to the Good side. Because you will be using your arms and good leg will be used extra. I am a PT assistant and would think it wise to be trained on how you will be transferring/ walking, and showering before you are in pain and trying to figure it out.

that really depends on what you are having=???
see you doctor and ask him. in some cases a physical ther can replace a suergery, which of course is great. but that does not work for any injury. so please get that checked by your local professional.

good luck

You may want to ask your doctor, you may cause more damage to your knee.
