If you're a Klansman at a cross burning, it would be acceptable to your fellow brethren of the bedsheet, otherwise, how fast can you run?

I am African-American and yes it is okay if you think the most derogatory word in the English language changes by removing an er and replacing it with an a. On top of that if you are stupid and really dislike yourself and want to be viewed as a complete idiot by those who are intelligent enough to know how terrible this word is. We have fought for years to remove this word from our language, but some people of my race feel it is a badge of honor to be known as a slow dumb person. So if you are slow and dumb feel free to use the word as much as possible.

No I don't think it's okay. I did it once, cause all my friends were black... and it just slipped out without thinking when I was mad at my boyfriend. I guess it was just from hearing it a lot. You know how you just pick up things?

It turned out okay cause all those people knew me and knew I didn't mean anything by it. So they just laughed. But as a general rule I'd say... NO. And if I had been thinking about it at the time (i.e. not blind with anger), I wouldn't have said it either.

Just say black if you have some reason to refer to race... African-American if it's some really politically correct or formal environment. But usually just say black.

NO no no! it isn't ever OK to say anything that remotely is like that word! It's not like a swear word where someone just came up with a reason for it to be bad... this word was used to keep a whole race below another race for a very long and should be wiped out of everyone's vocabularies!

NO!!! it's the same word and has the same meaning. i really hate that people have tried to turn one of the most derogatory words in the english language into a term of endearment. i don't care who says it or how it's pronounced, JUST DON'T USE IT!!!

I agree with Bonesofa Teacher, you can only say it if you're black, i'm black and 15, so we say it to eachother all the time. by doing that we have takin all the racist stuff out of it, but you can only say it to your peers. no matter how you pronounce it, it's still the same word. so there you go

NO!! You could get your butt kicked for saying bulls*** like that.
Sure, most black people use it nowadays when their with their friends but that doesn't mean it's right! I'm black and I must admit the word done slipped out my mouth before but that doesn't mean I go around callin people n***a! Just because you hear people say things doesn't mean you should repeat it.

No, it is not ok. You would have to be in a very special situation in order for that to be acceptable. It is acceptable if you are a black male in a group of very close friends that are black males. It is an in-group/out-group word. If you are in the group you can use it, if you are not then you can't use it without being offensive.

If you have to ask this question then that means you have no business saying it. You didn't grow up saying it...you are obviously not black and you are just picking things up along the way. So don't say it.
