How many people encounter this? You work with others, pass by them in the hall and you nod or smile and get nothing back? Isn't that rude? I can understand if someone was a creep. But there are a lot of people that seem so stuck up. Does this happen to you sometimes.
Thumbs up to those who smile back, say hi, or nod.

snowangel......yeah...I wouldn't want to work where you work...a bunch of arrogant pr*cks. You probably set the precendent there. You're so "involved" with work....deep in thought. This is hilarious, because in my job....it's non stop, "deep in thought" work. But you know what, if I'm walking down the hall and I make eye contact with someone, I'm sure to smile, nod or say hi. But you continue to be in your "deep thoughts" and blow right by people without somehow acknowledging them. That is an arrogant Pr*ck! I'm sure you think you are that much better than others too. I'm sure you make it a point to let people under you know that you are in charge. Keep up the good work.

Because they THINK they are better than you, when in all honesty, they are not.

BocaBoy, after reading your response to david, it seems that YOU are the arrogrant pr*ck. David is correct, not everyone is the same. If you want everyone to be like you, and behave exactly like you, start a cult.
Just because someone doesn't say hi to every single person in the halls doesn't mean they are an arrogant prick. That's pretty condemning, superficial, and judgmental if you ask me. My place of work is a very busy place, if I did that, I would be saying Hi, Hi, Hi like every 1.2 seconds. That's just ridiculous. Other times I may me deep in thought about a problem I'm working on and I am less in touch with the people walking around me. Does this make me an arrogant pr*ck ??? according to you, I guess I am. I guess that makes most everyone in my company arrogant pricks also and a lot of very decent, nice people that I know.

Like It Really Matters.... The Way I See It Once A Person Is At Work If They Look At You Then Look Away Just Try To Not Acknowledge That It Ever Happened Trust Me ITS FOR THE BEST!!!!
Because Work can sometimes suck and a lot of people have a lot of sh*t on their minds

Maybe they don't have time or want to be bothered saying hi every 10 seconds over and over again.... Really, it gets to be a burden after a while. Some people just want to get on with their day and get their sh*t done so they can get home to their families. Especially if, like me, they hate their job. Don't take it so personal, okay?

Some days I just don't want to be there and am not very friendly, but some people just seem to be that way all the time. Just different personalities I guess. They may be a different person when not at work.

I get this too. It's rare, but I have seen it. I work in fast food. Most people I say 'hi' to will say it back. This one guy wont even say hi to me. I just ignore him. It would be one thing if he was a moody teenager who is too cool to say hi, but he's an adult. I dont know why he acts that way. It doesnt matter and wouldnt excuse his rudeness. Just ignore that people who ignore you.

God forbid they don't drop everything to praise your very existence. Do your job and quit trying to run the thought police. Not everyone is like you. Maybe you're annoying them when you demand their attention.
