The coach is there to lead you, but what is really important is teamwork. If your team really wants to win, talk to each other, communicate what strategy you should use to win the game.

How long have you played? What level do you play?
As a coach I can tell you this. No matter how well your team does, someone will think your a bad coach, because you don't do things just they way they would. Now is he bad a coach, I can't say, I haven't seen your team, or his philosophy on the game. Also some coaches are not so much about winning the game as much as they are about developing the players. Player development is more important then the over all game record. That is one of the first things they try to teach you when you go to get your coaching license.
Some clubs require a coach to be license for the more advanced teams, and may not allow a family member to coach a team, for fear of bias.
Saying, the team plays good, but can't seem to get a win. Is a common problem with finishing. So the coach may spend a lot of time working on finishing drills. Such as shooting on goal.
I seem to think the coach made you run laps because you were disrupting practice some how. He didn't stand there, and say I want to make someone run laps, and not work on her skills.
So,my answer is. No, don't change coaches in the middle of the season. If your unhappy, look for a new team next year. Try to learn what you can from this coach in the mean time.

Probably a combination, but the best coaches can adapt to his team, if you have smaller players, then use their speed, larger players then use brute force. Coaches are limited to the players they have, and all styles of play don't fit all teams. I do however agree that teamwork can go a long way in bridging the gap, because quite often your coach can see the talent, but since his style is unfamiliar to you & the team, the whole idea never blossoms.

you may be a crap team or good team who knows, but i must say for one thing your coach is a shocker, laps are for runners and swimmers, if he wants to coach send him to the right sport, soccer has drills, skill training, coerva, small sided games and yes shooting

maybe he has his own purpose of spending your practice just shooting,i don't know, definitely! I think you should confront the team, talk to one another and state the problem! in that way, you'll realize your flaws and be able to fight again and prove yourselves!!! Good luck for your next games!!! :)

A COACH MUST HAVE THE PLAYERS RESPECT TO BRING OUT THE BEST IN THEM. DONT WORRY ABOUT WINNING OR LOSING JUST GO OUT THERE AND DO YOUR BEST, BUT MOST OF ALL TRY TO ENJOY YOURSELF.
