Very Good Question. Many people that is taking Chem or has taken Chem has misconception/confusion with this concept.
The world Mole comes from Latin, simply meaning "heaps" or "pile" of things. Mole simply means that it is ALOT of things. Exactly how many? 602,200,000,000,000,000,000,000 or 6.022x10^23.
For example, a Dozen of donut is 12 donuts. A Pair is two. A mole of donuts are 602,200,000,000,000,000,000,000 donuts. A mole signifies a quantity of something, not a mass of something.
People often mistake a Mole of something as its Molar Mass. Molar mass is referring to how much something weighs, when you have a mole of it. The molar mass of each element you see on periodic table are how much each element weighs in grams per mole.
For example, The molar mass of 1.0079g refers to mass 602,200,000,000,000,000,000,000 H atoms.
That is the basic idea of Mole Concept. I hope this helps.

it really is only an outstanding determination, Avogadro's huge type. Moles are used interior of an same way you would use a dozen, you've a dozen of something, and also you would have a dozen of something, a dozen atoms, a dozen eggs, a dozen electrons. And a million mole (6.022*10^23) of AMUs (atomic mass gadgets, equivalent to the mass of a carbon 12 isotope divided through twelve, yet can regularly only be seen because the fashion of protons plus neutrons in the nucleus) is an same as one gram. in short, a million mole*a million AMU=a million gram

haha. good luck with that. man was that **** hard!
A mol in chemistry is equal to 6.02 x 10 to the 23rd power atoms of an element. This is equivalent to the atomic weight of a substance in grams...for example, carbon has an atomic weight of 12, so a mol of carbon (6.02 x 10 to the 23rd atoms of carbon) weighs 12 grams. If you are weighing a compound, the atomic weight of the component atoms in the molecule are added together, so water would have an atomic weight of around 18 (1 for each hydrogen and 16 for the oxygen) so a mol of water is about 18 grams of water. Ultimately a mol is 6.02 x 10 to the 23rd power units of whatever it is you are measuring

Mol is just a handy term for a number.
When you say you have a dozen eggs, everyone knows you have 12 eggs. When you say you have a mol of carbon, everyone know you have Avogardo's number (6.02 x 10^23) of carbon. Okay not everyone knows this.
