The simple answer is GREED...some people want more than they need and aren't willing to share.

You have stated the truth. The world DOES indeed have A LOT of food, resources and wealth. The problem, though is that these things aren't distributed evenly over the surface of the earth. Many rich countries (USA for example) consume much of these resources, and waste a lot (just think of how much garbage you throw out every week, or how much food, either spoiled or you just don't want, you throw away). Not all countries are rich, and the rich ones grab most of the food, resources and wealth, but waste a lot of it in the end.

there is no easy answer to this question. It would seem that with all the advancements in production, packaging, shipping, distribution and preservation, food should be extremely easy to come by. That has never been the case. to elaborate on why the people in power like it that way, there are a MULTITUDE OF CONSUMABLE PRODUCTS ON THIS PLANET. Everything commercial, EVERYTHING BOUGHT OR SOLD, is a consumable. Earth is severely overcrowded, those with money live above the poverty, maintaining a high, sometimes decadent standard of living that drives the prices of all things up on a descending scale, like the food chain. the only way to erase poverty and hunger and desolation in so many areas is to somehow convince the rich to settle for much less extravagent lifestyles.

Cause it's not about wealth and resources. It's about power and distribution.
If all the celebrities that took part in the second Live Aid would have donated 10% of their total riches to the cause it would have been a nice start. But they say charity begins at home and that is exactly where they distributed the largest lump of the income they earned on that day (publicity does create revenue remember)

Poverty can be erased in the world alright, but we all have to have an equal responsibility towards the achievement of that goal.Besides in some third world countries where poverty is prevalent, because there is no democracy, those in leadership and their inner caucus reserve the wealth of the nation for themselves and the masses have no say,if you dare to speak the truth about the politicians or expose them, you will be doing so at the expense of your life.So poverty can be eradicated but we should erase totalitarianism and dictatorship, and bring in democracy to all nations, especially to third world nations, after democracy,we can then talk about eradicating poverty.

Because 1% of the population have the wealth and power. Can you see them giving it up?

It disgusts me that movie stars make millions of dollars per picture. Athletes make millions of dollars per season. We've got these people so high up on their platforms that not only do they think they deserve it, but we think they deserve it too, and don't bat an eyelash when someone makes $20 million dollars for a freaking movie. All for the sake of entertainment.

Governments wildly abuse our tax money and then have the nerve to tell us that they can't afford to bring up welfare rates TO poverty level, nevermind above it. Parents are having to work 2 and 3 jobs just to make ends meet, while others simply slip through the cracks and end up on the street. 3rd world countries are still trying to pay down debt incurred by ancestors hundreds of years ago because that debt isn't forgiven, thereby ensuring that they'll always be poor.

It's a sad, sad state of affairs.

There are too many reasons to list here, so I'll give one reason: The medical profession (of course not all doctors) has become a bastion of greed. People die all over this country because they can't get the operation (or other treatment) they need just because they don't have insurance (or the ins. company won't pay) or they don't have enough money. I've seen doctor's demand payment from a desperate cancer patient fighting for his life before they will even see him. Part of the responsibility for this dance of greed belongs to lawyers who encourage absurd law suits, driving up the drs. malpractice costs, but the fact is that many people become drs. now to get rich, and have perverted the profession.

i believe it can be erased but it wont ever happen because of greed. When you look at most of the poor countries look at their history and you should see a good deal were owned and while being owned they lost their resources. Since most countries gained their independence theyve just been debt. Theres more than enough for everyone in he world, its just that some want a lot more.

The people and countries with the wealth and resources don't want to reduce the status the extra wealth and resources gives them and just ditributing them freely to those in need does not benefit the donor country in any materialistic way so they do not bother and keep it all so they can sell/supply it for the highest possible return.

THIS IS A TERRIFIC QUESTION AND THE ANSWER MAY UPSET YOU MORE THAN THE QUESTION ITSELF. IF THE WORLD WAS FULL OF CARING PEOPLE SUCH AS YOU SEEM TO BE THEN YES, IT COULD BE ERASED. UNFORTUNATELY, THE ILLUMINATI OR THE UPPER CRUST OF SOCIETY HAS AND WILL ALWAYS BE THE MOST UNCARING. THEIR ONLY OBJECTIVE IS TO OBTAIN MORE WEALTH THAN CAN BE SPENT. THIS INCLUDES THE EXPLOITATION OF THE POOR. FOOD BANKS,SOUP KITCHENS...ETC MEAN'S GOVERNMENT GRANTS AND THAT MEANS MONEY. REST ASSURED THAT THE SALVATION ARMY IS A MULTI-BILLION DOLLAR CORPORATION AND THEY INTEND ON STAYING WEALTHY WHICH WILL CONTINUE AS LONG AS YOUR DONATIONS CONTINUE. I CHALLENGE EVERY ONE TO WALK THE LIFE OF THE TRULY POOR. BECOME A HOMELESS PERSON FOR THREE (3) DAY'S AND BEG FOR SHELTER FROM A SALVATION ARMY. I PROMISE YOU THAT YOUR TREATMENT WILL OPEN YOUR EYE'S AT CHRISTMAS TIME. DID YOU REALIZE THAT THOSE SEEKING SHELTER ARE USUALLY CHARGED FOR A CHANCE TO SLEEP ON A COT ? A HOT MEAL IS AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE IN SOME CASES AND ALTHOUGH PARTICIPATION IS VOLUNTARY, ANY DISAGREEMENT WITH THEIR (THE PITICULAR REGIONAL DIRECTORS ,AT THAT TIME) RELIGEOUS BELIEF, WILL RESULT IN REMOVAL FROM THE PREMESIS.AT NO TIME IN HISTORY HAS THERE BEEN A WORSE FORM OF DISCRIMINATION THAN THAT OF THE HOMELESS. I COULD FILL VOLUMES OF PERSONAL STORIES ON THE SUBJECT BUT THIS IS YOUR QUESTION. FINALLY, REGIONAL DIRECTORS OFTEN RECEIVE SALARIES OF OVER $65,000.00, WHICH INCLUDES NEW AUTOMOBILES AND A PLACE OF RESIDENCY, AND THEIR ENTIRE FAMILY WILL BENEFIT AS WELL. ALL FROM DONATIONS MEANT FOR THE POOR. DID I MENTION THAT THEIR HEADQUARTERS ARE IN ENGLAND ?

As long as people do not understand they make one world and do need eachother wether they are poor or rich there will be poverty not only physical but much more emotional.
Ego is man's worse enemy! IF everybody is poor how can you develop and if everybody is rich you cannot make money. So the rich part of the world is deliberately keeping this world unbalanced
untill nature reacts!!!
