Are you talking about on Ask or in politics? The answer is probably the same for both, though - APATHY!
In politics, I feel it is our civic duty to vote. We cannot complain about what goes on if we do not vote! It annoys me that those who complain most vociverously about council tax do not vote to change things!
I noticed that when I put your question up, there was a whole column of undecided questions for people to answer. Well, I do vote - you get points for voting and is is an easy way to increase your tally!
It also annoys me that people do not go back to the question they asked to rate the best answer. I think that is not very good manners! People take the time to answer questions, so the asker should have make sure they rate the best. Perhaps they don't realise they get back 3 points for picking the best, so the question only costs them 2 points.
When bored, I also go through and rate the best answers too!

I am someone who votes off and on and the one thing that absolutely pisses me off is when someone says "oh, you didn't vote? You have the duty to vote because so many other people aren't afforded the same opportunity." Voting is a privelage just as driving a car is. If I chose not to drive I don't think anyone would be harping at me because people in other countries aren't afforded such a luxury. It is just another case of people feeling that they have a say in someone elses personal life. I choose not to vote most of the time because until we can get rid of the foolishness of governments today, it's a waste of my time. I personally know a politician and see the corruption that happens. I don't want any part of that. It is such a flawed system.

If I had the right to vote at the right time, maybe I would've done! My birthday was the day after the elections so I wasn't allowed to vote... however, my friend, whose birthday is a week after mine, got his voting card early and could vote! I'm going to have to complain that I wasn't given the right to vote ONE day before I was 18. How ridiculous! In fact, I wouldn't vote for the current government just for that alone, I would vote for the green party or some other extremists!

My personal opinion is that everyone should vote. But if they don't vote then they don't have any right to complain about the who gets into that office or what laws get added.
Some people don't vote because they are too lazy. Others because they are old and no one thinks that they are "sane" enough to know how to vote or for who. God gave us free will and minds. He would want us to use them.

I vote in every election except the presidential election. I can usually find an independent candidates I can support in the lower levels and that is all.
I believe that Democrats and Republicans have lost their focus and are ruinning this country through their partisan politics.

I believe that all I can control is within my own sphere of influence. Elected officials are there to do things I never think about or care to pay attention too. Now, if a politician does something scandalous or deceitful I am usually not personally effected. There are greater concerns in life than who will talk to the government for me, like how do I talk to my child about those members of his species who would rob, kill ,kidnap, molest, or deceive him?

I always vote, but some people, at least people that I know, don't vote because they don't think that their vote makes a huge difference. But then they are the first to complain when something goes wrong.

Unfortunately, some of the poorest people choose not to vote because they have got themselves into trouble with debt, CCJ's etc, and don't want to be on the electoral register, in case their debts catch up with them.
Personally I am very grateful that I do have the right and the ability to vote.

I've never seen the need. None of my basic needs nor my safety has ever been in jeopardy. I voted this last election in Canada due to subjects I felt strongly about such as sending our troops to Afghanistan.
