I'm due on my period when I am on holiday next month.
How can I delay it for a few days so it comes when I get back?
I have heard that if you take emergency contraception it will delay it for a few days, what do you think?

To those who say 'keep your legs closed', I am going with my boyfriend and we are getting engaged out there so the chances of keeping my legs closed are slim to none.

If you take the combined pill it will not harm you to run 2 packs together. In fact I've known several women who are advised to do that most of the time because they have very heavy bleeds. The bleed between pill packets is not a true period, it is a "withdrawal bleed" which is the reason that it is not harmful to do this. But there will be less risk of accidental pregnancy if you continue to the end of the 2nd packet. I've done it for the same reason as you want to with no problem.

If you do not want to go on the contraceptive pill then there is a medication called Norethisterone that your GP can prescribe you. you need to take it three days before your period is due and for three times a day until you want you period to start. After stopping the medication your period shoudl arrive within 2 days.

The only downside is you will feel pre-menstrual throughout your holiday. I suffer with headaches and feeling bloated but that that is a price I was will to pay for a period free holiday.

As others have said you can run two packs of contraceptive pills together instead of having a weeks break but you may still get breakthrough bleeding, or you can stop this month's pill a week early so your period is premature. But check with your Dr or pharmacist, you don't want to compromise your protection against pregnancy. If you are not on the pill the drug others mentioned may be the only thing.

There ia pill called norethistorone, and doctors are actually allowed to prescribe it for occasions when women want to stop bleeding for a period of time or delay their period. Give it a couple of days to work though, I have been prescribed it before but for medical reasons, your period should resume a day or 2 after stopping taking the tablets. NORETHISTORONE!!!

Your Gp can give you a prescription called Norethisterone. It is widely used by women who want to delay their periods. It is not embarrassing to ask. Believe me many women go to the Doctors and get this medication. It is a form of the pill but a higher dose

try going on the contraceptive pill. you can take two packs back to back, so you dont have a period until you finish the pack ( you might experience spot bleeding) The emergency contraceptive will bring your period forward.

Emergency contracetion will onset your period! If you are on birth control pills keep taking them without a break for the seven days or get on the depo shot. It should completely supress your period

Take the regular contraceptive pill. See your doctor about it though and ask their advice. Don't say you just want it for this reason though because they probably won't prescribe it. I wouldn't recommend taking emergency contraceptive becasue of the side effects.

That would be just plain silly to take emergency contraception unless necessary. It's won't do your body any favours. Why don't you just use tampons then you can swim, where bright clothes, do whatever you want. There's no need to "delay" your period.
