Australia by being in the WC have already elevated the status of soccer in the country. I'm sure the young generation will see the game in a new light and the country will produce worldclass players because the Australians are truly a remarkable people. They have the knowhow to be the best in the world when they put their minds to it. They'll be back.

Because they are not a great nation when it comes to Football. By that I mean the real Football that FIFA is concerned with.

The Australians have their own (18 a side) "Australian Rules Football" which no one else plays. It is popular in Australia, and is a distant relative of the (15 a side) "Gaelic Football" which is very popular in Ireland.

What these countries, and the USA, do not realise is that by having their own special versions of "Football" they cut themselves off from the rest of the world and will never develop the same talent and supporter base that we see in the proper Football countries. In fact, the American, Australian and Irish games do not deserve to be called "Football", since they allow the usage of hands to move the ball and are weird mixtures of elements from football, rugby, handball, basketball and volleyball.

If the weird countries who prefer to isolate themselves qualify for the FIFA World Cup, they are more than welcome to participate. But one should not award a country that de facto undermines the world's most popular sport the honour of hosting the World Cup. It was a mistake already to give it to the USA, and it should never happen again. There are plenty of countries were proper Football is played to a high standard and loved by the people.

No, because the major cities with suitable stadiums to hold the games are too distant from one another. Australia would have to become a consistent force in World Football, their amazing performance in the World Cup could be a one off ?? lets see how they go in the next one.

Australia is ranked 42 and FIFA only prefers the "good teams" no matter how well Australia played. FIFA is obviously corrupt and bias.

1. because the referees only favour the big countries.
2. most aussies won't play sports that involve diving for penalties. We have it hardwired into us that those types of games are for soft cocks.
