Back in the day, Led Zep or Stones. 80's was just bad news all round save few bands on alt scene. Now Foo Fighters? Great pedigree. Jet strangely as well. Cold hard ***** what a tune. Matbe a bit too ac/dc. So many bands. What about The Rapture? They kick serious ***

Very open question - depends what sort of rock you like!

From the 60's and 70's I lke the Rolling Stones and The Sweet
From the 80's and 90's like Dio, G'n'R and Bon Jovi
From the past few years I like Muse...and lots of borderline Rock/Metal bands...

the original guns n roses line up was legendary they rocked my socks off !
i think their is so many different kinds of rock music these days its a v difficult question to answer , Greenday are s1t hot as are Panic at the disco, Fallout boy , The Killers and Muse to name a few. Early Metalica stuff kicked **** aswell , the black album was my favourite album by them , 'Enter the sandman' is quality :)
The darkness debut album was the last old school rock album ive heard and although it was a bit camp in places its still fookin rocked !

The Beatles. No other band, rock or other, has ever achieved the same success in the last 50 years.

Without a doubt it has to be Led Zeppelin. Has anyone ever seen a good a guitarist as Jimmy Page? A vocal range as awesome as Robert Plant's? or maybe a great drum beat or indeed drum solo as awe-inspiring as that of John Bonham's? Come on people. All Hail the Zeppelin!!! And the stairway to heaven!!!!!!!!

My objective opinion would be either U2 or REM. I say objective because I don't really like either of them, but respect their music and offstage lifestyles. Also consider their record sales and how long they've been together. Guess the Beatles and Queen would also be on the list of alltime greats.
Personally, I'm more into the harder stuff like Rammstein, Dimmu Borgir, Satyricon, Emperor etc, but they could hardly be classified as rock.
