Switch to Cable.

Cable downloads for me about at 8,000kbit/sec

DSL 756kbit/sec

Other than that make sure you are spyware and adware free

www.lavasoft.de is a good program to make sure of that

There's almost no way to speed up DSL... DSL is Mainly out there for Uploads... Meaning people can access YOUR computer and download things from YOUR computer faster then you can download from others.

Cable is Mainly for Downloads in which is completely opposite from DSL... they're both basically the same speed only that Cable uses more bandwidth for downloads then DSL does.

You can Contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider) and ask them if there is any way other then upgrading your contract/deal with them. Otherwise DSL is stuck being how it is.

Clear your computer of old files, and compress unaccessed files, this can be done by: START
This will also clear your internet cache, which can also be done on your IE browser by selecting: TOOLS
Also, run a "Disk Defragment" every so often, this is done by: START
As well as this, you can ask your ISP what the fastest connection available is in your area, and also look into seeing if there are any more powerful routers available on the market.

Also, delete anything that your computer doesn't need anymore, like old documents and programs, since your internet connection takes from your RAM too, the less it has to troll through to get the required information, the faster it will be.

Also, on the upgrade side, you could always buy more RAM, the price for this will vary depending on the type of computer, and the RAM is uses, and will be priced from around £25-£150 depending on how much you buy.

If you've never done a defrag before, you'll be amazed at how much space you can clear up on your HD, sometimes, it can total several GB of wasted space.

sorry, not unless you can convince everyone in your neighborhood that has it to switch to cable. lol. dsl is like a small boat, the more poeple on it, the slower it goes. especially at peak hours. switch to cable yourself and be done with the slow one minute and fast the next minute dsl. good luck

Are you getting the speed you expect to get?

If not first check that all of your phone connections in your house have a microfilter fitted. Secondly contact you ISP and complain. If they mess you around then consider moving: www.adslguide.org
