my skin has tanned. and i want to get rid of it. can anyone suggest me how ??

I am not a white skinned. So, I dont like tanning. I'm an Asian Indian and tanning makes my skin look darker. I'm much fair otherwise. It's just that due to excessive exposure to Sun my arms have got tanned that they look medium brown. Can anyone suggest me how to get rid of the tan ??

I would appreciate if the people living in India reply to me because they are more acquainted with the kind of climate we have in here, especially New Delhi.

First, start staying out of the sun, or covering the areas that you don't want exposed to the sun. You will still tan even if you use sunscreen. Next, exfoliate regularly the areas that you want to no longer be tan. When you get a tan, you have actually injured the living cells. By removing some of the dead cells, you will remove some of the color. Because you have more melanin in your skin naturally, your tan is probably very deep, so it will take time to lighten up. In the meantime, please keep these areas covered when you venture outdoors! A light, loose, cotton will keep you cool and still provide protection. Once your tan fades, however, remember that a tan is the body's way of protecting itself from further injury from the sun. So, once the tan has lightened, your skin will be very sensitive to the sun and very easily damaged. Be sure to keep covered.

Am an Indian and faced the same problem. But, now the tan is improving. Here is what you can do. To get rid of tan, apply mashed ripe banana on your skin, leave it on for 15 minutes and then wash off. You may also rub tomato juice which is very good for removing tan. Also, to avoid getting tan in future(by driving two wheeler or so) put on gloves. Gloves above your elbows are easily available in the market. Not to mention...use sunscreen.
