War of the Worlds was actually a really decent remake. I detest Tom Cruise but went to see it cos it was a Spielberg movie & Mr. Spielberg didn't let me down at all! I remember the b&w original & this one was really VERY well done. Scary, horrible aliens, end of the world as we know it type movie. Great job!!

All of the remakes of Sabrina (with Audrey Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart) are better than the original because in the remakes you thing that the guy might actually like the girl. Something that you don't find in the original where he seems pretty non-committal about her. There are two remakes that I know of, one staring Harrison ford and Julia Ormond and Yeh Dillagi staring Akshay Kumar and Kajol. Yeh Dillagi is the best of the three I think, but the original just wasn't very good.

I think the answer is obvious - King Kong! I can respect that the original 1930s version was ahead of its time but from a technical and an entertainment standpoint the new version is considerably better than anything that came before it - especially the 70s remake!

I can't understand people who think otherwise. There were of course many cheesy moments and I thought the scene with the stampeding dinosaurs was a bit far fetched, considering that Jacksons goal was to make a realistic version of the monkey classic.

i know others mentioned King Kong already. how about Lord of the Rings? Pete Jackson was supurb the first time pre-KK. The Magnificent Seven remake of the Seven Samurai is also high on the list of great remakes. Quintessential cowboy film surpasses the awesome Japanese work of art.

ok... first of all...i'll give you the ratings... the omen remake was quite bad coz the 1976 version was scarier...so thats 6 outa 10. king kong was much better than the older one i give it 7/10 its just too long... 3 hours is insane. peter jackson has no good sense of keepin audience in their seats lol... no offence to lotr lovers i dun follow that but i know its damn long too. charlie and the chocolate was a good remake...it entertained many kids...8/10... freaky friday has been improved a lot by the idea, technology, songs like "ultimate"..and hottie lindsay lohan ^^... i give it 9/10... so overall Freaky Friday wins too me...

Freaky Friday. The recent more modernised version starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan was just as good as the older version, starring...erm..sheesh, I'll have to check that one.

King Kong!!

I remember seeing the trailer and thinking 'Wow! I can't wait till that comes out!' but then remembering as I took my seat in the cinema on opening night that it didn't have a happy ending...

I cried as much as I did as a child to the original... a bit embarassing!!
