Hello,
It's not really a Mercedes. A Smart car is a division of Damlier Benz(as is Chrysler). It won't be here for a few years, and will be around 20K.

The Smart car is a sardine can. If it has seatbelts you can use it as a backpack. I seen it close up while in europe. Lets see, its half the size of most US cars, any car for that matter. With suv and the 18 wheelers on the road, I can't see anyone feeling safe in that little thing. And the price is too high.
But they just said they are starting to sell them in the states.

DaimlerChrysler announced that they will start selling Smarts in the US. They are working now to get the dealership infrastructure set up to sell the cars. They should first be available sometime in 2008

Not yet but they are in canada right now and doing great. They are so much fun and look cool too. The price you cant beat. loaded for 20G.
