Well, first I thought he is ruining the match, but we should know that the referee is just following the rules given by FIFA, in this case Sepp Blatter. And I just don't understand why the FIFA president blast the referee when all he does is following his rules. I said, yellow card to Sepp Blatter.

A disgrace to the profession!!
If you watch the game you'll see the Dutch started out all the violence. At 2 minutes first strong hit on Ronaldo, at 6 minutes they did it again and Ronaldo was unable to proceed, given the violence of the tackle. And what did the ref do? No red card. First mistake. Others followed, namely, too strict with portuguese offsides and fouls and systematycally ignoring identical offsides and fouls from the dutch. Then, that unbelievable UNFAIR PLAY move from the dutch that originated Deco's 1st card. Now, the English press is making a DIRTY campaign against Portugal, to make believe they are the violent and aggressive, but what they don't say is that Portugal just had 49 MATCHES IN A ROW WITHOUT A SINGLE RED CARD. yes, 49, corresponding to the last nearly 5 years. That says something about the alleged Portuguese "violence" doesn't it? Also, they don't say the Dutch committed more fouls, and out of the 10 Portuguese fouls they were booked 9 yellow cards!!! That says something doesn't it? Check out Fifa's statistics if you don't believe me. Besides, who injured who? It was Cristiano Ronaldo who had to leave in pain with his thigh badly injured. Was any Dutch injured? No. So, who's violent?
Needless to say - if the ref had had a strong hand up front none of this need have happened.

Oh no you are totally right..he could have prevented that nasty match by giving that BOULAHROUZ guy a red card when he attacked Cristiano Ronaldo the way he did. Because seriously he caused a lot of harm to one of Portugal's key players. So what Portugal did was retaliate about what happened to Cristiano Ronaldo. But since he started calling yellow cards on every single infraction he had to keep up with the pace and be regular about it I guess..LOL...but good news FIFA decided not to use him as a referee for the next round!!! YUPS YUPS

Like said before he lost control and that was his mistake, after that he just kept trying to get it back, the ones to blame are the players, who were too stupid to realize they were the ones risking their own careers.
I don't know why all the surprise anyway, Van Basten was very clear when he got the Dutch team that he wasn't getting it ready for the 2006 WC, but the 2008 european cup (and then obviously the 2010 WC), he knew they weren't ready to win this one, this was just an awesome test for him. The players gambled all his plans by engaging on a violent game, shame on them and their small thinking.

No, you`re right!
When the referee can´t handle the players, things like what you saw happen. He should have taken the grip of the game when that dutch player hit Cristiano Ronaldo. He should have red carded him. Since he didn´t the game got out of control with the portuguese players responding to the agressive dutch players.

it didnt turn into a disaster buddy, it turned into a WAR!!! who gives out 4 red cards and 16 yellows????????!!!! even blatter said he deserves a yellow card. i mean think about it: the ref is supposed to cut out stupid acts in the game (eg diving, violence, etc) and is supposed to let the play flow.. he did THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE!!!!!!!!!

unfortunately you are not wrong ,, he´d controlled the game very inconsistant , giving penalties & faults when there was none & not calling them when they happened in front of him ,,
