Your thoughts influence your surroundings to varying degrees. Sports players will have superstions about bringing themselves good luck, ie: going through the same warm up routine that was first used before a winning game. Friday the 13th has not been held as unlucky forever. In the spanish speaking world it is Tuesday's and Tuesday the 13th that is considered bad luck. http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/Friday+13th

"Friday 13th is unlucky for some. The risk of hospital admission as a result of a transport accident may be increased by as much as 52 percent. Staying at home is recommended." http://urbanlegends.about.com/cs/historical/a/friday_the_13th_4.htm

I think you can believe and positively reinforce good luck in your life and not have to "buy in" to a particular superstion if you don't want to. I suggest you look up the history of the particular superstion that seems to influence your life and see where it comes from.

If you feel better about yourself all day by not walking under a ladder, then how can that be bad luck? But don't be monomanical about it either, if you have to run into rush hour traffic just to avoid the underside of a ladder, check out everything above the base of the ladder and that will be more lucky than being hit by a car.

It depends: belief in luck is superstitious itself (not rational), so it depends on whether you can be superstitious without belief in luck (both "bad" and "good"). I suggest not only that belief in luck is superstitious, but being superstitious of necessity involves belief in luck. Superstition is a belief. If I am correct, then YES, it is bad luck to be superstitious, but luck does not even exist if you are not superstitious. It is just as valid to say that it is GOOD luck to be superstitious. Conclusion: superstition is nonsense.

It depends on which superstitions you believe in. If you believe in positive superstitions such as; a frog brings good luck to the house it enters, I don't think it's bad luck and if you believe in negative superstitions such as; when you break a mirror you'll have 7 years bad luck, then you will have bad luck. All in all I think superstitions are mind over matter - if you believe something is going to happen then it will happen. Although some situations seem too much of a coincidence.

I don't think it's "bad luck" to be superstitious.

I do think that being superstitious is bad for your mental well being and self esteem.

I just think superstition just weighs you down with regrets.

As Stevie Wonder says, " If you believe in things.. that you don't understand.. then you suffer... superstition in the way."

Luck is the residue of design. Superstition is a non-rational belief.

it's bad luck to ask if it is bad luck.... unless you typed it only with your left hand while your right foot was held off the ground.... Fortunately it's very good luck to answer such a question

off course it isn't! superstition is just making sure you're all right by doing things of which your mind could tell you they don't work. you know, deep down perhaps, that it's nonesense, yet it gives you a sense of security, especailly when science fails to give a satisfying anwser!
