Most likely a family member, his son or grandson, will take over. Since Castro is about 80 years old, his administration is preparing for the takeover of a new president. They need to execute this transformation correctly, or else Cuba will be overthrown by revolution by those seeking power.

It either degrades into something like Haiti, or the U. S. A. intervenes very strongly and creates another Costa Rica.

Initially a couple equally old hardliners. Eventually they will fade into cooperation with the US. They know as well as anyone that their fate ultimately lays in the shadow of the US & hatred & isolation will only continue to keep them in poverty.
