Don't do that! Turn on the heat and defrost even if it's hot outside. It only takes a short time, then turn on the aircon.

Sounds like your heater core inside the car may have a leak in it. When you turn on the defrost, you are running both the A/C and the heat to dry the air being directed to the window. If the heater core has a leak, you add some "steam" and humidity to this airflow and end up with worse fogging.

We had that problem with a van and it turns out there was a leak of some sort that was allowing water and freon into the vents and was basically spraying the window. Honestly, I'm not sure what to do to fix it. We just got rid of the van.

Sounds like you may have a bad heater core have a small leak in it.That will fog your windshield up bad.

If your windshield is misting its because of the moist air cooling on it. You need heat to get rid of that.
