Some of the most beautiful women I have met in my life are from Iran. Otherwise, it's just another country that happens to have a crazy leader.

The people we meet outside of Iran today can hardly represent the Iranians back home, because most of them left around the revolution. They are those that did not agree with it and could afford to leave. So we can't tell about the present day Iranian in Iran. As for the people who have left, some of them are very nice and interesting, the intelligentsia that disagrees with extremist religion, as it did with most of the Shah's politics. I feel sad for them. Some others are such materialistic snobs. Iran itself has a great history, and yes great food and great music. I don't like religious governments myself, whatever the religion, but I understand how the country got to where it is, when you look at the regime and politics of the Shah and his association with the USA to the detriment and disapproval of his own people. It seems that the country is making some strides against the initial religious extremism. I hope it continues on that path. I don't think it is more crazy for them to have nuclear weapons than it is for anyone else. Nuclear weapons should be banned all over the world.

I am American, and I don't know any Iranians. I think Iranians in Iran are a group of people that we don't understand very well or know enough about. They are humans, so by and large they probably want the usual stuff: stability, security, & prosperity.

Known a few, mainly in college.
Hardworking and smart. Screwed up gov. since Islamic Revolution.
Younger people don't like government, corrupt and stifling. There've been about 3 major demonstrations by transportation workers against the government this past winter.
If we're lucky an insurgency will break out soon in Iran. If we're not look for increasing agitation.

people are people no matter where they are from
you can have good or bad people in every race
it's just the way the world is
You should look @ how a person is by their actions & words not by where they are from, their skin color , their religion, or their nationality

just like every other group of people: 10% are good, 10% are bad, and the rest are like most of us, just trying to put one foot in front of the other and keep going. (i wouldn't want to be a woman there, however.)
