Both Harry and Voldemort are related to the phoenix. It's their source of power, and some kind of their Totem. It represents the character of them both.

There is a phoenix feather in the wand of each of them, and their wands are brothers. That phoenix is Dumbledore's Fawkes.

Each time, Harry and Voldemort are in a battle, their Totem is summoned, that one is the phoenix.

Voldemort already lost because he gave up on the phoenix, he threw himself in other places to find the power and forgot the essential source of power that he has, which gives Harry, who believes in phoenix, the privilege, and Dumbledore knows about Voldemort's ignorance of his source of power, so he bush the phoenix, his one, to help Harry over him.

The feathers in Harry's and Voldemort's wands are both from that phoenix, and yes, Fawkes represents Dumbledore aiding Harry. You should probably reread those books, it explains it there.

You have got to read the editorial at the site below. It is all about the Phoenix idea, and if you click on the "discussion" of the editorial, you will read all kinds of ideas that people have about why the JKR used the phoenix as a symbol, and all the things it could represent.

Way to spoil #6 for him, Asmi! He already said he hadn't finsihed reading #5 yet. You should delete your answer so you don't ruin it for him, in the unlikely event he hasn't read your answer.

How thoughtless!
