1024 fruits
Let
x = number of trees
x = number of fruits per tree
Number of trees · number of fruits per tree = number of fruits
x trees · x fruits/tree = 1024 fruits
x² fruits = 1024 fruits
x² = 1024
x = 32

therefore, there are 32 trees and 32 fruits per tree.

Guess there are y fruits per tree and there are y trees.
Then there are y^2 = 1024 fruits in the garden.
y = 32.
Each of the 32 trees has 32 fruits.

I think the answer is 32 fruits per tree so it becomes
32 fruits x 32 trees = 1024

1024

Maybe you should re-read and then re-write the question?

If you mean (but you haven't said) trees per fruit, then it is 1.
