In the scene where they ambushed a satellite station.

Why did they let Wade(Ribisi) come with them? i mean hes a medic, medics cure injured people in the battlefield, not in the frontlines. i mean that was just so stupid. They could've let him stay behind with Upham.

Because of that, he died.

To quote a line from a Star Trek movie...."the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one." Most military personnel I know are particularly fond of this line due to the fact that it pretty much encapsulates their oath of service in a nutshell. It is their job to do whatever is necessary to do their job and do it to the best of their ability. Wade's job in the film was to provide medical attention to the men in his squad and more importantly to him, his friends. Imagine how he would have felt if he had stayed behind like Upham (coward) and somebody had gotten wounded by the bullet meant for him. Had that happened, there would have been a scene where they called for "MEDIC" and you'd see him sprinting for a few hundred yards to get to one of his friends who was bleeding out and probably would have died before he got there. So rather than suffer that heartache and more importantly have the courage to perform the job he had sworn to do, he went with his squad and most likely assisted in the assault on more than the medical level. Also...this was World War II, there were VERY few conscientious objectors in the military back then.

First of all it was a Radar station, satellites did not come about until 1957.

They took a medic to help with any wounds they might have gotten. Sure a major wound he could not have helped with, but minor ones he could have helped and given the soldier a shot. You could also ask why they did not take more men along.

Yes but would it have been such a good and realistic film if they had left him behind? Got to pull at those heart strings to pull those big audiences :)
