In pop music it is like a kind of band that does it all for money and is short for popular. The kind of people who listen to it are kind of ignorant when it comes to music. Some bands are Britney Spears and the Backstreet Boys.

Technically ANY kind of music style can become POP music.
Pop music is usually defined by the Top 40 chart.
There is a general upbeat tempo that is associated with pop music. The stereotype is that it's happy, sugar music.

pop music is popular music. pop is just a sort of abreiviation of the word popular. rock can from rock 'n' roll (not too sure where the phrase rock and roll came from!), and overall stemmed from blues music.

it is more on the lyrics and meaning.
i prefer rock because I love the lyrics.
but if you like listening to music for a catchy tune, then listen to pop.

pop music is the music sung by skanks that sound like 2 year olds, esspecially inclues cheyenne kimball, i hate her, and rock is WORTHY music that is VERY good unless it is sung by the posers who SAY they play rock music but acctually sing pop music aka greenday, good charlotte, cheyenne kimball, ashlee simpson, etc, etc .
