I've owned H-D's before and to be honest I wasn't impressed. Quite frankly they are over-rated and over-priced. They do sound good with a deep throaty exhaust but as far as I'm concerned that's all they have going for them. There are much better motorcycles available for much less money. One thing Harley-Davidson does have is a good marketing department. I take my hat off to them!

It's all a matter of taste. I've been on everything: dirt, sport, dual-sport, super-moto, quad, race, cruiser. I rode a Harley once, and it just isn't my thing - the motor has a nice feel to it, but they handle weird b/c they are low to the ground and don't have a lot of clearance. Also, anything with forward pegs feels unnatural. Give me a Ducati, I'm happy.

They are great for posing round town/stoplights etc. If you want to get noticed it works well. I've ridden a bunch of different types, chopped, big bore, etc. Not so good when you get on it though, Ok in a straight line at ~55 : ) but really much too heavy and underpowered, 100hp 102ft/lbs torque from 107Cu. ins, (almost 1800cc, 61bhp stock, 1450cc), Suzuki Hyabusa 176bhp from 1300cc, 97ft/lbs torque.
Real good marketing from HD convincing public they 'NEED' one. Fun for a while, but way over priced and over hyped

It is the most awful handling modern motorcycle I ever drove. I'm used to British bikes and BMWs, and in the first turn I thought maybe someone had welded the handle bars to go only in a straight line.

Frightening overpriced bucket of bolts in my opinion. 60% sales hype, 30% styling, 10% real motorcycle.

Owned three in the past. I was young and the chicks dug it. now I'm older, I ride a goldwing. The diiference between bike styles is like the difference between cigarrette brands. It's all a matter of taste, and mine is GOOD! lol

Don't forget it will depend on the type. You can have tank slapping fun on a stripped down racer in the curves, or feel the smooth vibration of a dresser as you float along the highway.

I have had the unfortunate experience of riding a sportster, they have rubber engine mounts which really rattle the hell out of you. If you want a decent muscle bike go Yamaha V-Max everytime

The Springer was like riding a Mixmaster.

my experience was spoiled by the fact that the guy who took me out was soooo overweight i was clinging on 4 dear life!!
i had hardly any room on the seat and when he accelerated i nearly fell off!
apart from that it was loud, the vibration was numbing and you can't beat the freedom of a bike, whichever it may be.
