There are many answers, however the powerful nations such as our own must want the change. The United States (and other power players) plunders foreign countries by giving exorbent loans and promising incredible growth. However, these countries do not experience the growth and are therefore forever in debt to the United States. When someone stands up against America's wishes they are taken out by money or by hitmen. I suggest you read the book "Confessions of an Economic Hitman." It will open your eyes as to how powerful corporations work for the government off the books, and how we keep weaker countries in check for when we need their resources, UN votes, or other greedy desires.

There are other factors such as poor education and high birth rates.

As for corrupt government...they are corrupt because the only people allowed to stay in office are those that will do what they are told by the United States. They have everything to gain personally as long as their country does not make a stand for itself.

We have a chance to change the world, but Americans must first be willing to give up certain things in order for this to happen. If you are interested in these sort of things then take international political science classes in college they are really fun.

If you think about it, poor countries are 'poor', -not because of 'not enough money', but rather through mis-management, corruption or bad public practice.

So giving a person who mis-manages money another $1,000, just means in a week or so, they won't have the $1,000, - and they'll have little or nothing to show for it. Why?? because they just mis-managed the $1,000 too.

Besides, we should be interested in reducing "Inequities", -not in reducing "inequality". ie. what's fair... not that any two countries are == equal.

Difficult - and whom you mean by "we"?

Some poor countries do everything to prevent economic growth - their emperors pocket aid money, free market is prohibited, imports and/or exports are restricted, money transfer as well - and their staff and police are very bureaucratic and against free enterpreneurship - and of course they collect money for every paper they sign - otherwise months are lost...
