I mean I can see my house with chairs out in the garden and my car is not on the drive. As well as making me think where did I go that day, this is the public version just what have the military got up there. Not that they would be that interested in reading a newspaper over my shoulder when it would be a lot cheaper to go and buy one ,but bloody hell where's my car!

There's a silver Volvo 240 estate bit of rust round the rear wheel arch in the car-park at Lakeside for the past week. Did you go home by train from Chafford Hundred? If so look up the Lakeside carpark near Lillywhites on Google Earth and see if it is your car

the military can be watching and listening to you every second of your life. last i heard they had a program i guess that they could videotape you and with out viewing the tapes the program could tell when you were doing something out of your routine and send an alert, this is supposed to be for monitoring ex-cons if it's ever implemented, but that's just the stuff that they let out.
also a part of the patriot act says that if federal agent suspect that you have been doing something illegal they can go into your house, go through your stuff and they never have to tell you they've been there. they don't need any approval or search warrants and they can use anything they find against you. i heard this from someone who works in the military.

lol - Its not scary. =P

The Governments, military etc. have far better means of watching anyone they want to, and always have. Google Earth has not changed any of that in the slightest.

The only reason it scares some people is that theyve never seen this sort of thing before. Besides, it is never up to date. Photos could be years old, so no-one will ever be watching you. Its just like being in the crowd one day, when a reporter takes a picture of someone, and youre standing in the background. Totally harmless. :)

I think it's fascinating. I can just look at that website for hours, looking at all of the places I've been to and the places I'm about to go to. The military probably have satellites that can read the small print on a form at sea level, but I don't have the access to know that, and even if I did, I couldn't tell you. :-)

These images you see arent updated all that often....be more afraid of the new sat systems that can see a roseavelt dime on the street and give you the date! Or better yet.....the laser surveillance systems that can hear every word you say in your house from over a mile away.....

Yeah it's scary.
And this is just with fuzzy photo technology. I wonder what it will look like in 10 years. Maybe in 20 years it will be 3D and live and we'll be able to spy on people from our laptop. Nothing is sacred.

BTW, my car is not in my driveway either. It's at my ex's house. Constant reminder for him.

You've got that right. Using today's satellite technology, they can give us a thorough skin cancer screening from space. Probably not a good idea to skinny-dip in your backyard pool, eh? Now imagine if your Government ever needs a little leverage, something to convince you to behave in a certain way. Sounds like they'll have plenty of revealing backyard photos if they ever need it.

It is fascinating. I grew up in South Africa and live in London so i was showing all my collegues where i grew up and where i went to school. It is amazing how you can navigate yourself around recognising landmarks etc. I cant believe the new developments that have gone up too. I dont think it is scary. It isnt that clear so nobody can tell anything from it. Also they are not up to date so you're safe.
