"Temp folder" is short for "Temporary Folder", referring files/folders that are not important after they have served their purposes.

A "Temp" folder is a folder designated for storing data temporarily. Many times files need to be stored on the local machine while accessing the internet but these files are not required when you move away from the website (e.g. cookies). These files are stored in the temp folder. There is a limit on the max size of the folder so that older files get deleted as new ones are added. You can access the contents of the temporary folder by typing %TEMP% in the start -> run window

This a folder there files are save on temp basis. like u open a file name ramu.doc a copy also save in this folder if u lost ur orignal file u can take back from there. and some time some program or application u run ur pc it's need some file they files are automaticly were copied there that these are are helped to run this programm.

It's a folder on your computer where temporary files are stored. You should clean this folder every now and then cause it can take a considerable amount of space in your disk.

Your OS has a feature built in that allows a program to open a temporary file for writing. This is useful for stuff that is too big to put in memory or a file you wish to share between multiple processes. The temp folder is where it puts it.
On windows I think it's in
C:\documents and settings\username\local settings\temp
on linux it's /tmp

temporary storage area . It is mainly using at the time of installing s/w 's. At the time of installation, the temporary files needed for installation will be stored at this folder. But its only a folder.
It is also using at the time of running a program to store temporary files.
