Seven Beauty Rules to Break Right Now
Stop going by the book! It's time to shake up your hair and makeup routine. Here, the rules that the pros know were made to be broken.
By Carol Straley
Don't tweeze above your brows.
Any fuzz above your brows creates an unflattering shadow, says New York City makeup artist Vivian Hidalgo of Minardi Salon. To pluck any strays above brows, Hidalgo suggests you look directly into a large mirror (do not tilt your chin up or down -- this distorts your view). And starting at the inner corner, tweeze one hair at a time. To prevent over tweezing, after you've plucked one row, step back from the mirror to check your progress.

Clear up a zit overnight with a dab of toothpaste.
Models started sharing this so-called beauty secret, but the truth is, while the toothpaste does dry the blemish somewhat, it doesn't go far enough, according to NYC dermatologist Diane Berson, M.D. You'll get faster results with an over-the-counter acne treatment containing five percent benzoyl peroxide. Or try Neutrogena's On-the-Spot Acne Patch.
You absolutely need a lip liner.
Not always. Neutral lip colors are more forgiving and less likely to show imprecise application. Typically, only dark or bright shades (like red) really need a liner, but makeup pro Kat James has an easier method that produces more natural-looking results: Smooth on lip balm, then apply lipstick to center of lips only. Next, spread the color toward the edges of lips with a lip brush; the lip balm helps dilute the color to create a softer stain, rather than the hard-edged look you'd get with lipstick and liner.
Put on concealer first, then foundation.
Makeup maven Laura Mercier likes to apply foundation first to even out skin tone and provide a base for concealer to cling to. As a result, you use less of your concealer, which makes for a more natural look.
Rinse your hair with cold water to make it shine.
The theory is that a final rinse with cold water after your shampoo seals the cuticle, helping it to reflect more light. But according to hair and scalp expert Philip Kingsley, author of Hair, An Owner's Handbook (Aurum Press, 1995), lowering the water temperature won't enhance shine. In fact, cold water constricts the blood vessels of the scalp, temporarily cutting off the supply of nutrients needed for healthy hair. What helps give hair a pretty sheen? Rinsing thoroughly so that no dulling shampoo residue remains on your hair.
Foundation should match the skin tone of your face.
The surprising answer, according to Kat James, is that your foundation will look more natural if it matches your neck -- specifically, the area near the collarbone. The skin here has a touch more yellow to its undertone, while the face tends to be a little more pink or red. And the last thing you want is a foundation with pink -- it's aging and looks artificial.
Rub your wrists together after applying fragrance.
Some fragrance experts feel that rubbing crushes delicate fragrance molecules, and, as a result, you don't get the true scent. But Annette Green, president of The Fragrance Foundation, disagrees -- unless you have oily skin. "Natural oils mixing with the fragrance before it dries might interfere with the scent," says Green. Allow the fragrance to dry naturally; it takes about ten minutes.

Numerous options range from skin tone, location, time of day, weather, money to spend. Over all, you have to keep inmind the activites involved and what you will ultimately need.
Pictures are a must so remember to have a light foundation (liquid or powder) to help keep the shine down (if outdoors in the sun, be sure to get one with an SPF protection). Water proof mascara for those touching moments when you might cry and a color stay lipstick that is a shade brighter than your normal color to ensure good quality in pictures and if some does rub off in "the kiss" then you will still have a good shade of it left.
You could also have a make-up artist take care of you, but that is yet another cost.
A few weeks out, you might want to also visit the dentist for a light cleaning and keep it up with some mild whitening products as well.

You should look like a pretty girl, not a made-up girl, so here's my advice:
Use a good foundation WITHOUT sunscreen and don't use powder...both sunscreen and powder will cause light to reflect from your face, making you look paler in pictures. Use blotting paper if you have oily skin.
Use a highlighter under your brows to open your eyes, and also at the inner corners of eyes. Then use a neutral shadow on the lids and a bit of a darker shadow in the crease. Nothing glittery or shimmery. If you use liner, use liquid liner and just draw a very thin line at the base of your lashes. Do not extend beyond lashes! And of course, WATERPROOF mascara!!
Then use a natural-looking blush, again not glittery or shimmery. I would recommend Tarte Cheek Stain in Blushing Bride, not only is the name perfect, but it looks natural on everyone. I would also blend a bit a highlighter along the tops of your cheekbones.
For your lips, use a color a couple shades darker than your natural color. Again, not shimmery or glittery. You may want to dab a little gloss in the center of your bottom lip to make lips look fuller. Using some concealer below the corners of your bottom lip will help with this too. And use a touch of highlighter to define the V in your top lip.

The best thing to do is go and get a professional to help you with make-up. You can try a macy's nordstroms or any large department store. Even people at beauty shops can help you match colors. And help you decide which is the best for your skin color. I have a friend who is a make-up artist if you have a friend who is also a make-up artist get there input. The more ideas the more choices that you have on making yourself look beautiful for your wedding day.

You want to look flawless and pure..kinda the point. You want to stick to natural everything. Foundation for the coverage, power to even out your skin, blush for color, maybe a sheer eyeshadow like a dusted pearl or a white with a shimmer, and a gloss or a light lipstick. Not red. Wrong message. I would find a gloss with a hint of color. Depends on your skin color. Find an all over shimmer duster for your face, chest, and shoulders. It will make you shine. Have a lovely wedding and best wishes on your future. I'm going on my year anniversary with my husband...getting married was the best decision I have ever made! :)

ok what you need is to stick with colors close to your skin.
STEPS-
* put on 1 light coat of foundation
* eyes(you want colors that bring out your eyes)
silver and gold (one or the other) look great with any eyes
but do not put on to much just one coat going from the very end of lid to the the crease
* cheeks you need a color Very close to skin tone except a tad more pink and possibly a hint more bronze (either one or both) directly on the cheek bone
* lips do a pale pink or pale gold or somewhere imbetween the 2
***TIPS***
when applying any makeup always put on going up it will help prevent wrinkles
try a waterproof mascara close to the color of eyelashes (or clear) you might cry

i have green eyes so i use a white eyeshadow, i do my whole eye lid, then i use a black or blue eyeliner on the bottom eye above my eyelashes NOT UNDER YUR EYELASHES, then i use a WATERPROOF black mascara on the bottom and top eyelashes and the mascara is a bristley brush so it acts as if u r brushing it on. i highlight my cheek bone going in an upright motion with blush, it is very important to make sure the colors u choose match yur skin tone and NEVER use to much, dont cake yur macara on because it will make yur eyelashes like tranchula eyes, glitter is also a great asset, congradulations on yur big day

I say go to a Mac or Lancome counter. Don't do your own. I hired someone to do my makeup and I didn't like it at all everyone told me I had to wear darker lips otherwise I'd look to pale in pictures. And I didn't like my makeup at all I ended up changing it later. But I've gone to Mac and tell them what I want and I love the results all you have to do is buy a couple of their products and you'll look great all night.

remeber natural always looks best in photos. go for browns and neutrals. try brown eyeliner and glitter, a pink or peach lipgloss and black mascara. shop around and don't make a hasty decision. it's ur day, so it should be perfect. and less is better too. re-apply during the day instead. u don't want to look like a pancake.......
