I uninstall it and re install it and then it works fine for a while. It isn't difficult to do but it's a nuisance. Any ideas about why it quits and how I can keep it from doing that?

My guess would be that your motherboard has onboard audio....try the mobo manufacturers website and see if there is a driver update.

The 'gadget' that you are referring to is actually the sound driver. Does it happen when you use a particluar program?? Might be a compatibility issue. Try checking the manufacturer's website for an update on the driver.. the driver itself might be the issue.

I had a similar problem and I found updating the drivers cured it. Look for AC97 drivers on Yahoo search.

chances are this device fails when your computer goes into "standby" mode
try disabling the power management either in the BIOS or in windows itself.

it is your audio driver just reinstall it so you can have a sound on your pc

please reinstall it again, it is problem due to some antivirus if u have loadded, nothing to worry keep it up
