They study of history isn't as simple as you think. There's alot said about history being written by the victors and such. I can tell you now that this is not accurate. Historians today are aware that evidence can be biased and they spend untold man hours attempting to discover the a view of antiquity which is accurate from all accounts. For instance, if they were studying WW1, they wouldn't simple look at what key players in the British government or forces had had to say, they would look at perhaps German public documents, diaries of Russian soldiers, art and architecture from all over Europe etc, etc, etc. History is far from what you think it to be, believe me.

It's written down... usually by the winners. Generally what we learn as "history" is inaccurate. There's 3 sides to every story. The winners, the losers and the truth. If you're a true historian, you try to study what is written by the winners, the losers and then try to surmise the actual truth from where they cross over.
Of course, stories are also passed down by word of mouth in cases where written language was of lesser importance, or writing equipment less available (like African tribes and North American Indian tribes).

1. Go to your nearest library, read all the books you get on history.
2. Search the net for online libraries.
3. attend history lessons in your university (dont miss classes).
4. Contact your relative who is a student of history and take free lessons from him/her.
5. kill your self and become history.(of course i am kidding)

History ("his-story") began as memorized records of seasons, food sources, battles, good or bad hunts, etc, eventually becoming written records.
