If you were in a flood and had to choose between being rescued and leaving your pets, or staying with your pets - which whould you choose?

I would stay with my pets. I could never live with myself if I abandoned them. That being said, I understood why people in Katrina had to do what they did. Some were practically forced by gunpoint to do so.

I would stay with my animals or take them with me. I would never, ever leave them alone. Last fall, there was a wildfire near my home. There was fire on the hills on two sides of the house. The air was clogged with smoke. I got four pet carriers out and had the pets all ready to evacuate. I had four different people to offer to take the pets in if we needed -- no offers for us, just the pets.

I would choose staying with my pets. So that I could rescue me and my pets. I love my pet more than my friends. There is nothing I wouldn't do for them.

I would definitely stay. However, if I didn't have any supplies to care for them and me, then I would have to go and leave them...to return. But I would never leave my dogs if I didn't absolutely have to.
In Katrina, what they should have done is when they rescued the people and made them leave their pets, they should have tagged the animals with the names of their owners. It would have been easier to find them later on. So many unnecessary homeless animals out of that tragedy.

There's no way I'd leave my pets behind....I'd just figure out a way to escape with them...where there's a will there's a way. And I DEFINITELY disagree with Reality check's answer...just because you love your pets doesn't mean you're a "crazy cat lady/ol' spinster....I 'm married and have a baby girl, but I still love my pets with all my heart. Why do so many people think you don't /can't love people if you love animals???

It's a tough one to answer, but I think that if I had to choose between dying with my pets, or living without them I'd choose life.
On the other hand, if I had to make the same decision when it came to my son, I'd willingly die..either saving him or supporting him til the end.
It's all supposition though..who can know until they're faced with the actual situation.

I would stay with them definately they are part of the family. I love my cat and dog very much and thankfully they are both realitively small animals so they would come with me. It wouldn't even be a second thought I would stay with them sorry for all of those people who say they are just animals and yes I would risk my life for them they give me comfort and unconditional love thats more than I can say for most people in this world which is sad but true. Yea love em way too much to see them go.

I would stay with my pets but the rescue ppl would probably force me to come with them.

Absolutely stay. I would happily give my life for any of my pets as I'm sure they would for me. I consider it animal abuse to leave them in a place where you are fairly certain they are going to die. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I ever did that.

I would stay with my pets because we are the owners, it is our responsibility to take care of them and love them.
