They people who cared for my son while he was in the hospital were simply doctors and nurses (cardiac specialists in my son's case).

May I make a kind suggestion for your report. Please don't use the term "Down syndrome children". It is much kinder, and more accurate to say "children with Down Syndrome". They are children first, and the condition is secondary. After all, we don't say "cancer children", right? It may seem like a small difference, but it all has to do with perception. My son is a child who happens to have Down syndrome....but he is not defined by it.

Good luck on the report!

The people who look after my child who happens to have Downs syndrome were the nurses and the doctors and of course me. The nurses are too busy to be able to give our children a minding facility. I always stay with my daughter in the hospital. Medical staff are just understaffed and dont have to time required. sometimes there is a woman who hands out toys to all children but nothing especially for children with a handicap. Its tough on parents but that life. A so called normal child would have the sense and confifence to stay themselves but our children may not. ny daughter is 20 and i would still stay and im not being overprotective. If a child is in residental care one of the care workers would go with them but those that are kept at home have to muddle away accordingly.

Like the previous answer, the people who cared for our son in hospital were simply doctors and nurses.
And I would also like to ask you not to use the term Down Syndrome Children for the same reason. And, if possible, try to avoid phrases like he or she "suffers from" Down Syndrome. This tends to imply that it is some kind of disease, which of course it is not. It is simply a genetic condition and our son certainly does not suffer (although we do sometimes!) Often he suffers from other peoples ignorance and predjudice, but that is another story...
