I might get some sheep for my land (mostly to keep the grass down), but I figure why not sell the wool also. Is this an easy thing to do? Or is selling the wool not practical?

No, it is not practical. When we shear we either give ours away to people to spin, or haul it to the dump. Some people sell small amounts of wool on E-bay, but it is more trouble than it is worth.
Figure it out if wool is worth only .10 - .20 per lb., and demand is light to medium!

Probably depends on which country you live in. Here in New Zealand, sheep are every where. Black fleeces are somewhat sought after from those who spin their own wool and knit their own items etc. Remember though, someone will also need to shear the sheep if you can't. To the home spinners this is a crucial process. The staples must be long for strong yarn.

Here in the United States it is practical.
