This is still the best country in the world to live in. Changing fast so that might not be the case for much longer. However...

America is the first nation to accept people from around the world reguardless of race, creed and religion. The US is still one of the very few in the world to accept people from all over the world.

America is a center for invovation, invention and positive change. A leader in technology, Things we've accomplished are part of the everyday life of almost every person on the earth.

The US was the first nation to volentarily end it's conquest phase and led to other Western nations ending thier colonization trends.

The US constitution is the model for most of the free worlds constitution and even many Comunist and non-Free nations have adopted parts of the US Constitution.

The US was the first nation to develop a prison system for rehabilitation. Without the US inovations in punishment capital punishment would still be very much an everyday thing in many nations today which have banned it and are ironically critical of the US's use of it.

The US has brought to the world several different music forms as well as many innovations on existing music forms. Entertainment wise the US brought to the world movies, and unfortunately TV as well. Several US painters have become influential painters around the world. A scattering of sculpters and other artists as well. The US until recently was where almost all the best guitars were made. US companies still make the builk of the guitars in the world but most are made outside of the US. Competitors from other nations are also making this a more competitive market.

Cars. Need I say more. While Europe built quite a few very special cars, it was the US who made them affordable to everybody. Who developed most of the basic types of cars. Until the VW if you owned a car and were not wealthy it was because of America. US manufacturing inspired Asian auto makers. Combined technologies with European and Asian car makers have created the advance cars that we know today.

Space, first and only on the moon. Key contributer to space station. Primary and until recently only nation that could put a sattilite in orbit.

The Internet deserves it's own space here. Without the US this would not exist yet. The Internet started as a small US research network. Now it and the technology that made it possible are world wide.

The US over the last 100 years is EASILY the most charitable nation. We are still the top funder to the UN. Beyond the UN we fund literally thousands of projects to help underdeveloped nations.

I could go on and on and on. The US has done or contributed so many great things to the world. We still have the capability to be that way again. Corruption is posioning our Government however. With each advance of this disease of nations our ability to be special is lost. Something that will never sit well with Americans. It is part of basic cultural deffinition to strive and exceed.

Absolutely. I've lived in Japan, Germany, Italy and England (also visited many others) and I must say that the US is best. America's government may not be on it's "A game" at times, but believe me, it's better than others on their best days. Not to mention we don't live right on top of each other like alot of other countries do. The housing situation in Europe and Asia is horrible. They think it's fine because they don't know any better. But if they came to the states where most people actually have yards bigger than 3ft by 3 ft they would see what they were missing out on.

As a history buff I must say no. The reason for that is simple. We are a waring nation our economy lives for it. We seem to get into some conflict with someone every twenty years or so. We have stooped to a new low and attacked a country that did not attack us. We are asked to support our troops when are own government does not. It is a sad state of affairs to say the least. And it will not end here. The next president be he/she will inherit a national dept the likes of which have never been seen before by any nation.

America itself is a great country.. but the underhanded tactics of our goverment is killing the people by surpressing important information regarding things like diabetis. It is curable and they know it. Without their lies, the medical community would not grow as rich as they have over the last fifty years. We are headed for some scary times because of "National Security" issues too. People need to wake up!

It was, it has gone to shyt in the last 20 years. and is on a course of destruction, America is the youngest country there is, a few have changed their names but America is still the youngest, if we continue on the course we are on, it will surely go to hell in a hand basket as they say. as they mutilate our constitution and the bill of rights, The freedoms that made it great will whither away. and you will end up with another Saddam Hussein running this country.

"everyone thinks their own country is the best" -- no way -- if that were so, they wouldn't be clamoring to get here -- they are voting with their feet. Americans usu try to move abroad only when asked to defend this country. There are only about 20 countries that you'd want to visit, some of them are pretty cool, and it makes sense that their citizens are patriotic and wouldn't want to move here. But the ones that really want to be here legally, love to have em. Want to be surrounded with folks that don't hate us.

I support her people and her military (hell I am one) but as for her government no I don't. The decisions they've made have turned this country into a very disliked place.
