HIV is not the only problem you need to worry about. Chlamidia, ghonnorhea, yeast infection, herpes, syphillis are just some of the STD's you can get from any type of sexual activity. Get tested for everything, or use a dental dam.

Well cathy*, you should have asked the question more intelligently like, "Will having oral sex with my wife be safe if she doesn't have HIV"? There are other STD's and conditions that a woman could have such as yeast infections etc.

Yes, HIV can be transmitted that way. Risk of transmission of HIV through oral sex is low, but HIV can be transmitted that way. Testing is recommended 3 months after possible exposure, followed by retesting 6 months after possible exposure.

Maybe she doesn't have the HIV virus, but unless she is disease free like herpes, hepatitis or other contagious disease and she is clean, then I don't see anything wrong with oral sex.
