My opinion is *not* to potty train. Your child will want to be "big" and will learn what she/he needs to know when she/he is ready. You'll save yourself a lot of time and trouble (and possibly years of wet sheets) if you don't bother training her/him at all.
In any event, she/he is way too young. If you didn't do "baby toilet training" in the first 6 months, you need to wait until she/he is at least 2 before you initiate anything. (If, however, the *baby* is interested at 18 months, go ahead.)

18 months is the earliest recommended. I have heard any earlier and you could hurt their systems because of the holding. Also if you have seen people that potty train from birth they are actually only taking their kids to the potty when they know the child normally goes. The child is not potty trained, basically the parents are.
How is more difficult. I used the book once upon a potty (I also waited until 2). Then I introduced the potty to them and didn't let the kids wear diapers, panties, anything. I found that if they had even underware that they went in them, but they hated the sensation of it running down their legs (I have girls).

You can start potty training now, by putting the child on the potty (not a toilet) for a minute or so when you change a nappy. This gets the child used to the idea of sitting on a potty although it will not make them take a dump in the potty.

As soon as your child shows interest you should be introducing them to the potty, however generally by 2 most children are or wil be potty training. Don't press the issue though, it will just frustrate the both of you. If your child starts showing interest then get the kiddy potty and make it available, but 9 months is really young.

Intellectually, kids really aren't ready to start toilet training until they are two years old.
If, though, you want to get her used to the feeling of not wearing diapers and she can sit up by herself, you can try elimination communication.
Basically, as soon as she wakes up in the morning and after naps, sit her on the potty and stay with her for five minutes. You can make a little Psst sound to encourage her. You can also put her on the pot 15 minutes after a meal or bottle for another five minutes.
Now, if she goes, you just get lucky and save a diaper. She doesn't actually have control over her functions. It is just the very beginning of learning where pee and poop go when you don't wear a diaper. You should never, ever get angry or punish a child who pees right after you take her off the pot no matter how old they are.
There are a lot of books on early potty training.

I started with my kids after the started to walk. The way I did is I let them see mommy go on the big potty. I also got potty for them to go on. I would not push the issue about going to the potty of cause that met make your baby go the potty. If your baby is a boy it helps if daddy let him go in with him to go the potty with him. It is going to be hard for the most part but gets easier. One more thing take your baby to the potty about every hour. Introduce your baby to potty chair.

9 months old is awfully young to be trying to potty train. They have no clue they can control those muscles yet. They arent even walking (most anyway) by that age!!
Your best bet is to wait until after a year, closer to 18 months and see if he/she shows interest in potty training. One thing is for sure--the harder you try to push them into being potty trained the harder they resist and DONT potty train.

Wait until baby is walking. I think around 18 months is ok, but it depends on the child, as they all develop differently. Have the potty around, so they get used to seeing it, then sit them on it every hour or so (without nappy), until one day, they pee in it and you can tell them how wonderful and clever they are and give them a biscuit or other treat.

if your baby is a girl,I'd say a little over 1and a half,if it's a boy don't even waste your time until at least two and a half to three years, boys are much harder to potty train and will take longer
