Keep in mind that the original Native Americans could not "see" the ships of explorers on the horizon since they had no reference to this kind of device in their entire collective consciousness.
Only when a shaman, whose "vision" was more expansive and accepting of the unexpected, pointed it out to those around him, were they finally able to "see"...
