I buy all the time and it's safe. Plus you're extra safe when you use PayPal.

I've both bought and sold on eBay, and it is relatively safe. I did have one buyer who took almost three months to pay me for her item, but I didn't send it until I got my money.
I've never had a problem buying things myself, but I recommend that you thoroughly check out the seller's feedback comments. If you see comments that indicate that goods arrive faulty or not as described, don't buy from that person.
I've always paid using either direct bank deposits or PayPal and always felt safe about receiving my items. The first one was the hardest. I chose to start small: that way, if anything went wrong, I would only lose a few dollars. I bought some beads for my jewellery making, and I've never looked back!
If you have a problem with a transaction on eBay, there are dispute processes that can be followed. I had an issue where something I bid on wasn't what was shown in the picture at the top of the page, and the seller and I mutually agreed to cancel the transaction. There were no dire consequences.
If you're polite and respectful and careful about whom you buy from, you should have no problems buying on eBay. Lots of people do it every day, and there are some wonderful bargains to be found there! Best of luck!

It depends on the sellers feedback and rating.
Ebay themselves are just a means of FINDING a seller or buyer, they have no say in the handling of money.
Most often transactions are done with paypal, which I consider to be very secure.
Paypal gets the money, then once the object is confirmed to be sent, the money is transferred.

Yeah. If you ask most people it is perfectly safe. It is just best to ask the advice of other people first to see if they think an auction is legitimate. Don't be pulled in by scams and all will be well.
Oh and one more thing, things that seem too good to be true typically are. If you see a high-end computer for less than $20 take the hint and report it.

you have to be smart about it. check the seller's ratings, their location, and how long they have been an ebay member. for the most part if u take precaution, ebay is a good place to buy items. if you use paypal, you can get your money refunded if you end up dealing with a fraud.

Yeah, just make sure to read the seller's feedback by clicking the number next to their ID. also, check the feedback left for others. I have been involve in over 400-transactions since summer 2002 and only 4 have been bad. So the odds of getting screwed are slim to none. But in general is OK.

ACTUALLY IT DEPENDS ON WHAT YOU WANT TO BUY AND HOW LONG YOU WANT IT TO LAST FOR. BUYING ELECTRONICS OR MACHINES WOULD NOT GIVE YOU A SATISFACTORY WARRANTY NEITHER WOULD IT GIVE YOU AN OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE A GOOD CHOICE BECAUSE YOU CANNOT DETECT THE DISADVANTAGE OF PURCHASING THAT MODEL OR THAT PARTICULAR ITEM. I DO SHOP ON E-BAY AND TWICE I HAVE BEEN UNLUCKY. COMPUTERS AND TREAD MILLS ARE THINGS I WOULD NEVER PURCHASE ON E-BAY AGAIN. AFTER SPENDING SO MUCH MONEY AND TIME ON REPAIRS I BOUGHT A NEW DESK TOP FROM DELL. THE PRICE DID NOT MATTER ANYMORE BECAUSE THE TROUBLE WAS NOT WORTH IT.
ITEMS LIKE WORLD CUP T-SHIRTS, BOOKS, VOUCHERS ETC CAN BE PURCHASE.AS I SAID IT DEPENDS ON WHAT YOU WANT.
