I am agnostic. If there is a God, I think (s)he has moral people around them, of all faiths.

To address your specific questions: I doubt Jews are Gods chosen people (a quick review of history). I do not believe JC was return. I do see the Arabic-Israeli was as a religious war. At least it started that way, over time thou I think people forget why they started fighting. After such a prolonged conflict, you must know someone who was directly affected by the war, and they become your enemy regardless. America was founded on freedom of religion. To many it is a good thing that there is a place where Jews can practice their religion. The views of Americans are as diverse as the middle east, we just have a much shorter history of war.

Being a Christian, I hold the overall view that the Jews WERE God's chosen people but that they rejected the salvation
through Christ. The Book of Revelations indicates that Christ's return will not come until the Gospel is made available to all nations, and does not otherwise specifcally mention Jerusalem in that context. America's support for Israel is largely political, while I view the Arab/Israeli conflict as half religious, half political.
These are of course only my views; I hope it helps your understanding.

Americans have different belief systems so not everyone will answer the same. But my answers are...

Yes

No, we are blessed through Jesus's sacrifice. Jews are chosen, Muslims are blessed, Christians are called.

No, my belief is there is no telling when he will return. Our bible says it will be like a thief in the night. So there is no one precipitous event. Others will argue with me on this one. Some believe it will be one generation after the reestablishment of Israel (look out for 2049)

Yes, I think the conflict has religious implications that have fueled for literally thousands of years. Of course it has grown into economics and rights of property, but I think the underlying reason is religion.

Me personally, No, Israel was set up by the British who our one of our best allies and in turn made Israel our ally. In order to have any standing as being loyal, we must stand by our allies. I am sure however that my country has many that does stand behind them on religious reasons though, I have heard people actually say that.

As I said, this is just me. We have as a nation many different interpretations and others will not believe as me. We also have Jews, Muslims, Buddhist, Hindu, just to name some who will view the Israel situation different.

I believe that all religious books were by men.
All men have an agenda - for good or ill.
The reason I support Israel is that they are the closest thing to a trusted friend in the Mid-East. Jews do not demand that all Americans believe as they do or die.
The Jews are not trying to bring about the end of the world so they can take over.
Israel is not all sugar and spice- but could be much worse.

Over the centuries facts have been distorted and religious interpretations misunderstood and manipulated all for mans own selfish motives. Take for example, Mr Hannibals comment on Muslims believing the "seven virgins in paradise story" and Jews believing that they are God's chosen people. Mr Hannible believes that Muslims believe in it simply because he has been bombarded by movies and media interpretations of what Muslims believe. This is stereotypical. Similarly not all Jews or people of Jewish decent believe in the "we are the chosen people" case. Unfortunately the truth is not as black and white. People are complex, so is life in general and so are the reasons behind the Arabs-Israeli conflict.

Israel takes up about 1% of the so-called Middle East. Muslims and Arabs get to have the other 99%. Seems to me that the "pie" should be divided 50/50. I have no religious reasons for supporting Israel. I believe that everyone is entitled to the government of their choice and to be left alone in peace.

Most will say no to all the this.
I say yes to some. It is not when Israel dominates Jerusalim though, " no man knows" .
But most Americans do not feel this way. To be honest most Americans, or at least most I know (97% of them) think we should let the two fight it out, or nuke the whole middle east because all they know is war and that is all they will ever bring us.
That is how most lower to middle class Americans think.
It really is.
