I'm an atheist, but I know a religious war when I see one...

I support Israel because they (Jews) deserve a homeland and where on Earth is a more appropriate place for them than Israel? The Israeli people have manged to create a livable place in that desolate countryside, all the while defending themselves from attacks from nearly every country around them...the Arabs could take lessons, I mean if the Palestinians devoted as much time and effort into governing themselves and making their environment more livable and pleasant as they did to killing Jews, there wouldn't be a need for all the violence. Do you see what I'm getting at? Am I making sense here? Think about it.

As an American, I often forget the rest of the world. It is our curse. We are selfish and self centered.

That being said, you must realize most Americans have no ties to Israel whatsoever. It is often said that less than half our population could identify 50% of our states. Even fewer could locate Israel on a map.

As a sincere Christian, yes, I still believe God's covenant with Abraham is still in effect. However, most Americans are not sincere Christians. To be honest, America has had a long history of anti-semitism. Henry Ford and Papa Joe Kennendy are two noted examples.

In the Christian faith, man cannot force the hand of God. Jesus will return of His own accord. The return of the Israelites is a sign of His return not a cause.

The Arab-Israeli conflict is a religious war that America is not involved in for religious reasons. Our involvement dates back to our hatred of the Soviet Union and Anglo-American guilt over the Holocaust.

If I could convey one thing it would be that Americans are free thinkers. We seldom agree on anything and we feel we know everything (myself included). We argue amongst ourselves on a regualr basis concerning the meaning of our ideals and history. There isn't a consensus on most topics and the Arab-Israeli conflict is no different.

I wish it were not so, but the truth is the truth. Prior to the OPEC embargo during the 1970's, most Americans cared little about anything in the Middle East. Were it not for 9/11 and the continued involement of our military, most would not care today.

throughout history people always interpret conflicts like the wars in Palestine to be prophetic of the end of the world, but that doesn't make it true, now does it? maybe you should stick to things that can actually be proven. Better yet, why not DO something about the current conflict instead of spending energy speculating about how this fits into some fairy tale.
