Automatically assume that the 3rd person involved in a separated relationship is the one that caused the problem?
I have been berated for being a friend to woman that had her husband of 20 years leave her. I was and still am single today
I felt so sorry for her. I didn't have anything to do with him leaving her. I was her only friend, she spoke very little English.
I spoke to her, because no one else did.
Ya know what, I am one of those guys that finish last and I bet I have more people at my funeral than the majority of you people that have no morals, i.e. cheaters, liars etc.

yeahhh, I never assume that, for just that reason, and others. It's like, the whole "don't shoot the messenger" thing! I try not to automatically assume that it's the messenger's fault. Soo yeah, I don't assume the 3rd person is the problem-source. :D

Firstly, don't assume that everyone except you is cheating and lying, that's so disrespectful of you, there are lots of decent people in the world who also have morals. And you will never know how many people are at your funeral coz you won't be there to count them, I don't care if no one comes to mine, they are better off going and celebrating my life somewhere other than a funeral parlour.
secondly, people assume you are involved because they are naturally suspicious by nature. Who cares what other people think? As long as you know ans she knows you weren't the cause, then what's the problem. If you two are not together then it will soon become very clear that you are both single and people will stop talking about you.

I think it's a great thing to be a friend to people, including someone who is going through a divorce. Lord knows that's one time in a person's life when they can use a friendly face. The problem is, not all men/women are capable of merely being there as a friend. My assumption as to why people assume the worst of the 3rd person would be because they have been burned by a 3rd person or have been burned by being the 3rd person. People, in general these days, are extremely judgemental.

I think that people do that because they don't want to admit that maybe it was thier fault... they want to point the finger at someone else.
Others do it simply because they assume that if someone of the opposite sex shows any interest in the recently seperated... that they want them. (it is worse for guys cuz they kinda get a bad rap from some women for..well.. ya know.. bein' dogs) Pretty "closed-minded" but true... also, what difference would it make if you did like her? He's the one that left her right? Some people can be so stupid!
