In movies where there's shooting involved, there's always someone who gets shot (obviously!). What trick do they use to make the scene look realistic? I'm mainly refering to the part in which the bullet hits the victim. I'm almost sure that they have a package of red liquid hidden under the jacket. But what I can't imagine is that how is this package blown.
Also in the movie Godfather, when this Vegas guy, Moe Green is shot in the eye, there's blood coming out of the wound. But how did they manage to make a scene like that? There was no jacket to hide this 'red liquid' under. It doesn't seem like someone poured the fake blood on his face either. So... what's the deal?

Thanks. I know what 'special effects' are, and I wasn't referring to them. In a movie that was recorded in 1972, when there were no 'special effects' you could see these scenes being executed perfectly (as in Godfather).
