There are lots of horses available for adoption, but they wouldn't necessarily be ideal for riding. Abused horses, retired race horses, retired police horses, etc. It really depends on the reason you want a horse. Are you looking to help a horse, or are you looking for a horse to ride? You won't get a great riding horse for free.
However, In my area, there is a horse farm that has hundreds of horses used for summer camps. During the rest of the year, they lease them out for free.

There are some rescues that adopt horses out for free.but they are companions only,no ridding due to injuries.There are no rescues of there that adopt out sounds ridding horses for free.Those usually run about $500-1200,although some rescues are more.If you want to,e-mail me you local and I can point in the direction of a rescue near you.Best of luck.

I have two miniature horses for sale. They arnt free though. Sorry. One is a foal adn the other is her mother. We would like to keep them together.
