i am seriously contemplating a coati. (or is it spelled koati in english?) a pair of them. they are cute and relatively low-maintenance creatures - we had and bred them in a youth science center so i know what it takes. just when i make the housing ready i hope to get them. presently i have a gecko, a chameleon, a crested porcupine and one human - i reckon all of them rate as exotic in a way...
hypothetically i would love toucans, but i dont think of it seriously, i dont have room for them in winter, but they are such fun.

I agree with "Sadorsmile", I would love a chameleon. A friend of my husband owns an exotic pet store and he has several beautiful chameleons for sale. They are between 80-120 UKP each, so they are not cheap. However, I reckon with 3 cats, 6 kittens, 6 snakes and 10 large arachnids (including 2 scorpions!), I reckon we have enough pets to be going on with!

I have a feeling you're going to hate my answer, but I wouldn't want an exotic pet. Wild animals are so unpredictable and it's very difficult to give them the neccesseties that need, i.e. room to run, special nutrients found in their own environment. There have been diseases, attacks, etc etc.

Cheetahs because they are easy to tame and were once used as pets.
