Check with the specific airline. Lots of them have lowered the weight you can carry in order to save fuel. They also employ less people to take care of luggage, so a lot more luggage is being lost. Try packing only a carry-on if you can.

The weight allowed is usually 32KG per person but some airlines have different allowances check with the airline beofre flying as they usually charge about £5 for every kilo or part kilo that you are over. Cabin Baggage(hand luggage) is usually 10KG.

Most airlines limit your suitcase to 22kg - hand luggage is 10kg and a certain shape.
Airlines are getting a lot stricter now, so watch out.
We used to put both our allowences into one suitcase, which generally weighed around the 33kg mark, but because of new health and safety measures we can no longer do this.
We are now a two suitcase family.

This depends on what carrier you are flying with, what class of services and whether it is international. Also, is it going to be carried on or checked? This makes a difference! Best thing to do is look on the back of your ticket jacket OR call the airline OR check out their website OR ask your travel agent. Check out this information from the United website - which should be standard for other carriers: http://www.united.com/page/article/0,6722,51146,00.html
Whatever you do - don't overpack! Bags get heavy if you have to carry them yourself and you can always buy extra items when you get there.

In general, you're looking at two bags that each weigh no more than 50# for checked luggage (they'll slap you with a healthy fee for overages), and they will allow you to carry on one small bag plus one "personal" item (purse, diaper bag, briefcase). For exact measurements, click the link below:
