3 things to be considered
1. Is it real? Iran has that knowledge? Will they?
2. The liberty of any nation
3. Who and how can we come out of this arms race?
If first question is not true, it is another tactic of uncle sam to get into the private affairs and economy of an independent nation. Ifg it is true then what can happen later?
If it goes into the hands of Islamic fundamentalists, who likes to kill and get killed can erace the entire human race. If they act as a very responsible country, then, why can't they develop and keep?
Thirdly, even if they develop and keep, how can we as a part of international community inspect, protect and assure the liberty of that nation? Can we give assurance as a group of nations as your soverign state will be protected if you don't do it or else you will face the music in one voice? Similar fashion to Pakistan and North Korea? These are all irresponsible countries who leaked out the technology and there are possibilities to leak out that to a group of terrorists?
Let UN pass a resolution to protect a country before US uses its language of threatening. No self respected person or country can hear the elder brother's voice used by US. US should try to use a better language if they are a responsible country. Be a mediator for peace talks not war talks. Empower the UN to decide no US.

It is certainly a concern. However, how much truth are we receiving? The weapons of mass destruction Bush kept proclaiming Saddam stored have never been found! Honestly, as a country who dropped two nuclear weapons killing and wounding countless innocent civilians, I can see why out politicians are so concerned! Yes, it was a long time ago, but we know the destruction that can come from a nuclear program and that our reputation isn't good. Personally, as someone who grew up on Guam and has family there still, I remain more concerned about Korea. Guam is an incredibly strategic military point and there are lots of countries who would benefit from it being blown to shreds (the island is 32 miles long and 8 miles wide at the largest points, so it wouldn't take much to get rid of it completely). The reality of it all is that there are lots of angry people in this world and everyone is trying to make sure the other doesn't have better weapons to do us in!

I respect the fact that they want to get the technology on their own.
Since they have a violent past and have recently threatened several countries around the world I don't feel safe with them having the ability to make weapons grade plutonium.
Iran needs to be part of the solution and not part of the problem.
They should be able to share in the technologies that the super powers have but should not be in control of making their own nuclear fuel for the safety of the world.

As Iran a religion state, they follow the verse in the Koran "And prepare for them whatever weapon you can to terrify God's enemy and your enemy." And in the Iranian concept America is the enemy of God and the enemy of Iran. Isn't America the Great Devil, according to Ayatollahs? Who will destroy this Great Devil and save the world? At the same time the Iranians may have all the right because they did not attack any country, but USA is damaging the Islamic countries, Afghanistan and Iraq. What does America want from the Islamic world????????

Unless I missed something (entirely possible) they only wanted a nuclear program for energy purposes. They sure don't need weapons grade material, though. The world would be better off without nuclear weapons.

Its perfectly in line with their right. Iran has no record of any violence and has maintained that it is going to utilise the power for civilian use.
Personally speaking...even if they were after making nukes, i dont see why not?
With all big world powers combining together to bully Iran...I feel it is in line with Irans security to equip itself with self-defense material.
Just to add..Isreal is deemed to have more than 100 'ready-to-go' nuclear warheads in its arsenal yet the IAEC and other treaties fail to kerb them.
Why?
